Olympia 2021, 100-meter finals: Italian Jacobs sensational Olympic champion

The Italian Sprinter Lamont Marcell Jacobs has become sensational Olympic champion over 100 m and thus successors of Usain Bolt.

The 26-year-old prevailed on Sunday in the final of Tokyo with the European Card of 9.80 seconds before Fred Kerley from the USA (9.84) and Canadian Andre de Grasse (9.89).

Jacobs, who was born in El Paso / Texas as the son of an Italian mother and came to Italy as a child, had already run in the semifinals in 9.84 seconds European Cardord. For Italy it was one of the biggest sports days of history. Around ten minutes before Jacobs had won his compatriot Gianmarco Tamberi Gold in the high jump. Jacobs is the first European winner in Königsprint since Linford Christie 1992 in Barcelona.

Topfavorit Trayby Bromell had surprisingly missed the final of the Tokyo Olympic Games. The World Best of the USA came in the second of three semi-finals in 10.00 seconds only in third place and did not belong to the two "Lucky Losern". Bromell was the tiny of a thousandth of the secondary-placed Nigerian Enoch ADEGOKE.

Because Kerley could not intercept the Italian Jacobs, the Durststrecke of the United States continues. Since Justin Gatlin 2004, no American has brought the sprint crown in summer games. Jamaica, last triumphed by Bolt three times in a row, was not even represented in the final. Jacob's winner time was a hundredth of a hundredth than Bolt 2016 in Rio.
